Various Backup Strategy & Rules
In the language of information technology a backup or data backup is nothing but a simple form of copy of the original data which is taken and then stored in some different location or storage device. It is mostly stored in the secondary storage device. The restoration of the data or data back in simple sense is done after the event of data loss. The process of storing the data in the verb form is called, ‘back-up’ and the noun form is, ‘backup’. Backups are the best method from which the data can be easily recovered after its loss.
Backup are a kind of disaster recovery process through which we recover our lost data in the easiest way. But you should note that not all backup are have the ability to reconstruct a configuration which is complex in nature, computer system etc. Information repository a secondary form of storage space for the data is required by backup strategy, and it collects the backup of sources. The repository can also be called as a plain list of all kinds of media backup like DVD, CD etc. or it can also have the date of production, index which is computerized, relational database and catalog.
A backup rotation scheme is required to store the backup data; it can also be called as a system in which the backing up of data is done to computer media, and it limits the backup numbers of separate dates retained differently. It is mainly done by the apt re-use of the storage data media by back ups which are over written and needed no longer. This method describes as to how and when each and every unit of storage which is removable is used for operation of backup. It also tells us as to how long it can be reserved after the backup is restored.
The most important rule which can be added in the backup process is the 3-2-1 rule. The 3-2-1 backup rule is the most important and useful backup rule which everyone should follow and adapt. According to the, 3-2-1 backup rule, there should be at least 3 copies of the data which you should save. You can do the simplest thing that is store the two copies of the data on the storage media or secondary storage device and the one copy you should always keep it on an offsite location.
You should store the third copy in a remote location and it can also include the best form of storage that is the cloud storage. Apart from 3-2-1 backup rule there are many kinds of backup services which are available on the net. You can browse through the web and get the right kind of backup service for the storage of your precious data. Cloud services are there but are paid service. And it is also the best form of backup offering huge space for the storage of data.
